About

A bit about me

Ey up*, I’m Andrew Davidson. I’m a 30+ year IT veteran who has rolled up his sleeves and had a proper go at pretty much every corner of the tech space. From building bare-metal server hardware and scripting automated deployments to consulting on Microsoft tech like SharePoint and Azure Stack, I’ve been around the block more than a few times.

Tech is my second passion in life**. I genuinely love making things work, whether I’m deploying code through DevOps pipelines or sorting out infrastructure. Over the years, I’ve co-authored plenty of internal code using PowerShell, DSC, and ARM templates. Right now, I’m getting stuck into using Terraform to deploy infrastructure onto Windows hosts and our new Proxmox servers—with a view to shifting it all into the cloud once it’s working properly, and of course writing all about it here in my blog.

* To non-native Yorkshire speakers, Hi
** My wife is my first passion, and yes, she absolutely made me put that in. I know which side my bread is buttered! 😉

What do I actually do?

Currently, I’m working as a Senior Support Engineer for a small consultancy company based right here in West Yorkshire.

My day-to-day is a proper hybrid mix. When I’m not supporting our customers, and our own software tools, I keep our internal systems humming by blending classic, old-school systems administration with modern Azure cloud technologies, developing and building new automation solutions to make our infrastructure run like clockwork—no dramas, no fuss.
